Quirino Grandstand

Landmarks Rizal Park Quirino Grandstand

The Quirino Grandstand is famous for events of national importance such as official state affairs, Presidential inaugurations, Independence Day ceremonies, religious activities, political rallies, as well as local and international celebrations. As a sought-after venue for large gatherings, it has been a testimony to various events including the People Power Revolution in 1986, World Youth Day in 1995 and Papal Visit in 2015.

The first Independence Grandstand, which was built for the proclamation of Philippine Independence from the American rule on July 4, 1946,  was originally designed by Juan Arellano. In 1949, the new grandstand was erected to its current location. Now, it stands as the Quirino Grandstand, named in honor of former President Elpidio Quirino, the first president of the Philippines who took his oath of office in this historic park.
